Artist's Statement

        "This scene is in the San Deigo Canyon looking north on the way to Jemez Springs, New Mexico. Many people incorrectly refer to this canyon as Jemez Canyon. Rollie Grandbois, my sculptor friend that lives in Jemez Springs, NM, told me that many years ago there was a gold mine in this area. Now it is one of a few rest areas on the way up the canyon. To me, it still has a gold mine of a different sort."
