Rio Chama, New Mexico - The Rio Chama that runs through Abiquiu , New Mexico always appeared to me as quiet lazy slow moving river in this area. That appealed to me. The combination of mountains and rivers somehow seemed special and unique. I liked the two together, so when my artist girlfriend, Rebecca Lowe, and I were in that area in the fall of 2004 I decided to paint it. This spot is just down river and east of Abiquiu before the El Rito and the Rio Chama meet. At the time, I was, what I call "chasing the yellow".
