"to use one of my favorite color combinations, blue and yellow..."  "Santa Fe National Forest" by Southwest landscape artist Robert Benjamin "...Our day journey took us to northwesteren New Mexico looking for trees and designs. "In the summer of 1999, I meet with my girlfriend's extended family southwest of Socorro, New Mexico in a canyon for a picnic. We all had a great time. When we left Rebecca Lowe, her son Sam D'Addio and I traveled west looking for interesting landscape for paintings. We came upon this tiny hill. I was so impressed with this little knoll seeming so proud of it's self, all alone, I never forgot it. It was so New Mexico I couldn't resist." "In Fall of 2003, Gordon Van Wert and I found this scene while driving north on State Route 4, just past the Hummingbird Music Camp, on the way to Los Alamos. We were traveling the "back" way to Santa Fe. I can't remember why we were going to Santa Fe, but we were enjoying the ride. I thought this scene was so pleasant and so typical of the area that I wanted it for myself. I love painting New Mexico."

Southwest Original Oil on Panel of Bairds Farm - Artist Robert Benjamin "February 1999, my girlfriend and I were traveling north on US 84 through Abiquiu, New Mexico searching for interesting subject matter to paint. We spotted this scene near town. I thought it was delicate and felt compelled to try to portray it. I didn't paint it until 2007."

"Spanish Queen" by Robert Benjamin ... "This scene is in the San Deigo Canyon looking north on the way to Jemez Springs, New Mexico. Many people incorrectly refer to this canyon as Jemez Canyon. Rollie Grandbois, my sculptor friend that lives in Jemez Springs, NM, told me that many years ago there was a gold mine in this area. Now it is one of a few rest areas on the way up the canyon. To me, it still has a gold mine of a different sort."
